RV slide outs are a convenient feature that allows you to expand the living space of your recreational vehicle. However, like any mechanical device, slide outs can sometimes stop working or malfunction. If your RV's slide out is not working properly, there are a few steps you can take to try and diagnose and fix the problem.
Step 1: Inspect the slide out for damage or wear/tear The first thing you should do when your RV's slide out is not working properly is to visually inspect the unit for any obvious signs of damage or wear. Look for cracks, dents, or other damage to the structure of the slide out, as well as any damage to the seal or gasket. You should also check the track to make sure that it is aligned properly and that there are no obstructions preventing the slide out from moving smoothly. Step 2: Lubricate the moving parts on slide If the track appears to be in good condition, you can try lubricating the moving parts of the slide out to seee if that fixes the problem. You can use a silicone-based lubricant or a product specifically designed for use on RV slide outs. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for applying the lubricant, and make sure that you lubricate all of the moving parts, including the track, the seal, and any other components that may be prone to friction. Step 3: Check the motor or pump on slide If the slide out still does not work properly after lubrication, you may need to check the motor or pump to see if it is functioning properly. The motor or pump is responsible for driving the slide out in and out, so if it iss not working correctly, the slide out will not operate properly. To test the motor or pump, you will need to locate the access panel on the slide out and follow the manufacturer's instructions for testing the unit. If the motor or pump is not functioning properly, it may need to be replaced. Step 4: Bring in a professional if needed If you are unable to diagnose and fix the problem yourself, you may need to bring your RV to a professional mechanic or RV repair shop for assistance. They will be able to diagnose the problem and make any necessary repairs to get your slide out working properly. |
